Job Title: Government Relations Manager - Indonesia

Job Summary:

The Government Relations Manager serves as a key liaison between Brankas and governmental entities in Indonesia, such as BI, OJK and PPATK. This role involves developing and maintaining strong relationships with government officials, monitoring legislative and regulatory developments, and advocating on behalf of the organization's interests. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of the political landscape, excellent communication skills, and the ability to navigate complex regulatory environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Relationship Management: Establish and nurture relationships with government officials, agencies, associations (AFTECH, ASPI, etc) and other relevant stakeholders to advocate for the organization’s interests and objectives.
  • Legislative Monitoring: Track and analyze proposed legislation, regulations, and public policies that could impact the organization. Provide timely updates and strategic recommendations to senior management.
  • Advocacy and Lobbying: Develop and implement strategies to influence public policy and regulatory decisions. Prepare and present persuasive arguments, position papers, and policy briefs to government officials and stakeholders.
  • Strategic Planning: Collaborate with senior management to align government relations strategies with the organization’s overall goals and objectives. Develop and execute plans to address key policy issues and opportunities.
  • Strategic Projects: Explore opportunities to work closely with the Governments at National and Regional level and support in the effort of building and integrating a nation-wide infrastructure of Open API
  • Public Affairs Coordination: Work closely with the Compliance, Legal and Marketing team to integrate government relations efforts with broader communication strategies. Assist in organizing events, briefings, and meetings with government representatives.
  • Compliance: Ensure that all advocacy and lobbying activities comply with relevant laws, regulations, and ethical standards. Maintain accurate records of interactions and activities. Also, participate and guide Compliance and Legal in audits led by the government stakeholders in Indonesia.
  • Reporting: Prepare reports and summaries on legislative developments, regulatory changes, and government interactions for internal stakeholders. Provide actionable insights and recommendations. Coordinate with the compliance team to manage reporting to the government stakeholders in a timely manner.
  • Crisis Management: Assist in managing communication and advocacy efforts during times of political or regulatory crisis. Develop strategies to mitigate potential risks and manage stakeholder perceptions.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Public Administration, Law, or a related field. A Master's degree or a Post Graduation is preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in government relations, public affairs, or a similar role. Experience with the payment industry is a plus.
  • Skills:
    • Strong understanding of the legislative and regulatory process in various financial sector departments.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex issues clearly and persuasively.
    • Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with government officials and stakeholders.
    • Strong analytical and research skills to assess and interpret policy impacts.
    • High level of professionalism, integrity, and ethical standards.

Work Environment:

  • Travel: Occasional travel may be required for meetings, events, and site visits.
  • Hours: Brankas is a 100% Work from Home. However, there are teams which do need to collaborate and cross-coordinate. Depending on the role, we might request people to come to the office for meetings. Also, since government socialization sessions and government events are in person happening in Jakarta or other cities, we would request the person’s attendance.
