About the role
We are looking for a high-ownership Associate Director – Finance to own and build Decentro’s Finance function. This is a strategic yet hands-on role spanning finance operations, transaction-level reconciliations, financial reporting, planning, controls, compliance, fundraising readiness, and automation.
The ideal candidate combines strong accounting fundamentals with direct fintech/regulated-business experience and can work closely with founders, banking partners, compliance, legal, operations, and product teams.

What is expected from you

  • Own end-to-end Finance, including accounting, reporting, cash flow, payables, receivables, collections, banking, reconciliations, and controls.
  • Lead transaction-level finance operations including settlement reconciliations, merchant/partner payouts, nodal/escrow accounts, collections, and exception management.
  • Drive monthly/quarterly/yearly close, financial statements, MIS, board reporting, cash-flow reporting, budgets, forecasts, and financial models.
  • Build and maintain financial controls, policies, approval frameworks, ERP/accounting workflows, and finance automation.
  • Ensure clean, accurate, and audit-ready financial records and coordinate with auditors, tax advisors, banks, and other external partners.Oversee GST, TDS, income-tax, payroll-related, and other statutory compliance activities.
  • Lead financial and commercial analysis for products, banking partnerships, pricing, vendors, and strategic initiatives.
  • Own fundraise readiness, including investor MIS, financial models, due diligence, virtual data rooms, and board reporting.
  • Build scalable finance processes and controls from the ground up, improving reporting quality and reducing manual effort.
  • Partner closely with Founders, Banking Partners, Compliance, Legal, Product, Operations, HR, and Engineering.
  • Hire, manage, and develop a Finance team, including 2–4 members across finance, accounting, and reconciliation.

What are we looking for

  • Qualified CA with 7–8 years of post-qualification experience.
  • Direct ownership of Finance in a fintech, payments, NBFC, banking, lending, or regulated SaaS/financial-services business.
  • Strong hands-on experience with transaction/settlement reconciliations, merchant/partner payouts, nodal/escrow accounts, collections, and exception management.
  • Experience with fundraising, investor MIS, board reporting, financial modelling, due diligence, data rooms, and audit-quality reporting.
  • Proven experience building Finance functions, controls, policies, ERP/accounting workflows, and automation from scratch.
  • Proven ability to hire and lead finance teams, ideally across finance, accounting, and reconciliation.
  • Strong understanding of Indian finance and statutory compliance, including GST, TDS, and income tax.
  • Strong Excel/Google Sheets and financial-modelling skills, with experience using accounting/ERP systems.
  • Strong business-partnering and stakeholder-management skills with founders, banking partners, compliance, legal, operations, and product.
  • High ownership, commercial judgment, attention to detail, integrity, and comfort working in a fast-paced startup environment.

Good to have

  • Experience in payment aggregators, regulated fintechs, NBFCs, lending, banking infrastructure, or API-led financial services.
  • Exposure to multi-entity accounting, cross-border payments, foreign-currency transactions, or international operations.
  • Experience implementing finance automation and scalable processes in an early-stage/high-growth company.
