About the role

As a Senior Electrical Engineer at Gideon, you will take technical ownership of the electrical and control system architecture for autonomous robotic systems. You will lead complex electrical design efforts, guide system integration, and mentor other engineers while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and own electrical and E/E architecture for complex robotic systems from concept to production
  • Lead the selection, evaluation, and integration of electrical components, including PLCs, safety systems, motor controllers, and sensors
  • Develop, review, and approve electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and design documentation
  • Design and implement PLC and Safety PLC applications (e.g. TwinCAT, SICK Safety Designer)
  • Define and integrate industrial communication architectures (CANopen, EtherCAT, Modbus, RS232)
  • Design electrical systems in compliance with functional safety and industrial standards (ISO, IEC, UL, ANSI, robotics norms)
  • Lead testing, validation, troubleshooting, and commissioning activities in-house and on-site
  • Provide technical leadership during power-up, integration, and customer deployment
  • Drive continuous improvement of electrical designs, architectures, and engineering processes
  • Create and maintain high-quality technical documentation, commissioning procedures, and validation reports
  • Act as a mentor and technical reviewer for other electrical engineers
  • Contribute to project planning and cross-functional technical decision-making

Your area of expertise:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, or related engineering field
  • 5+ years of professional experience in electrical engineering, preferably in robotics or industrial automation
  • Strong expertise in electrical system architecture and schematic design
  • Extensive knowledge of different electrical components and their functionalities
  • Advanced experience with PLC programming, including safety-related applications
  • Solid knowledge of electrical power systems, drives, and industrial components
  • Strong communication and leadership skills in English
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for commissioning

Bonus points:

  • Exposure to functional safety systems or safety PLCs
  • Experience with industrial robots or autonomous systems
  • Familiarity with version control systems (e.g. Git)
  • Previous experience working as an electrical engineer with industrial machinery, either in the field or as an in-house engineer
