Entrust is seeking a dynamic Associate General Counsel - Identity with a passion for technology-driven innovation and experience acting as a strategic leader. As a key member of our global legal team, you will report to the Chief Legal and Compliance Officer and will act as the legal segment leader for Entrust’s growing and cutting-edge identity business, including AI-powered solutions. The Associate General Counsel – Identity is a trusted legal advisor to the business and has leadership over a legal team, largely based in London, England. Your role will involve managing the Identity legal team, providing strategic advice on the identity segment leadership team, overseeing commercial negotiations and product support, and delivering legal guidance on geographic expansion and go-to-market strategies for the identity business. You will be responsible for helping Entrust navigate the evolving legislative and regulatory landscape relevant to Entrust’s products and services (including AI) and building a legal team to assist in providing legal guidance related to global regulatory frameworks and geo-expansion. The specific areas of focus and responsibilities will change based on company priorities, new legal issues, and the regulatory and competitive ecosystem. Key Responsibilities:
Provide expert and strategic legal advice to senior management of the identity business, senior legal leadership team and the Entrust Senior Leadership Team.
Represent the legal team on the identity segment leadership team and other global cross-functional leadership teams, contributing strategic insights to drive business objectives.
Serve as the London site leader for the legal team, fostering a collaborative and positive environment while managing priorities and building strong internal relationships.
Manage the Identity legal team that provides commercial and product legal support for the identity segment, including geographic expansion initiatives and go-to-market strategies while effectively prioritizing among a large volume of diverse transactions and initiatives and maintaining a high-level of responsiveness in a fast-paced setting.
Provide strategic guidance on regulatory matters, including AI, related to Entrust’s product offerings, go-to-market strategy, and commercial transactions. This role includes building regulatory frameworks and related processes, identifying, analyzing and monitoring advancements in AI and other emerging regulations on a global scale, conducting research to identify potential legal risks and contributing to discussions on data strategy and regulatory matters.
Responsible for AI governance in partnership with business stakeholders; educate internal stakeholders on the legal landscape of AI, potential risks and opportunities, and best practices for responsible AI development and implementation.
Foster relationships with internal business partners and communicate with external parties (external counsel, customers, vendors, etc.)
Deal with complex, significant matters that cut across legal and related areas and identify proactive solutions that will mitigate risks in a practical business manner.
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications
Educational Background: LLB (or its equivalent) from an accredited law school; an LLM is a plus. Must be authorized and licensed to practice law.
Work Authorization: Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in London and be willing to travel domestically and internationally.
Experience: At least 10 years post-qualification experience, including at least 3 years in and in-house corporate environment.
Language Skills: Fluency in English (written and spoken) is required; proficiency in additional languages such as French, Spanish, Dutch, or German is a plus.
Strong negotiation and influencing skills: Ability to demonstrate strong skills in organization and prioritization, along with the ability to manage teams and projects effectively.
Strong interpersonal and analytical skills: demonstrated ability to understand complex legal concepts; think strategically and create trusted relationships with key stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
Communication & Leadership: Exceptional communication, leadership, and organizational skills, with a strategic and process-oriented mindset.
Regulatory Expertise: Proven experience in global regulatory matters, particularly in AI governance and compliance.
Commercial Acumen: Strong background in commercial and technology legal teams, including drafting and negotiating agreements with a focus on regulatory compliance.
Management Experience: Prior leadership and representation on a business unit leadership team.
