\nAbout the role:
\nAs a Research Scientist at Owkin, you will have the opportunity to improve medical research using state-of-the-art machine learning algorithms. You will work with interdisciplinary teams with both machine learning and biomedical expertise to build foundation models from multimodal biomedical data that will fuel our diagnosis and drug discovery programs.
\nWhat you will be doing:
\nAs an expert Research Scientist in deep learning and foundation model, you will:
\n- \n
- Join a NEW team setting the foundations and paving the way for the development and application of foundation models in biomedical research and drug discovery \n
- Drive the development and application of advanced machine learning methods, in particular in foundation models, representation learning, large language models and generative AI, to relevant internal and external projects \n
- Conduct methodological research in key areas to unlock novel applications, including writing scientific publications and patents. \n
Depending on your level of experience, you will have the opportunity to supervise a team and lead ambitious projects.

\nThe successful candidate will have a ‘team-first’ kind of attitude; be independent, curious and detail-attentive; thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment; and be fun to work with.

- Demonstrated expertise in representation learning/large language models/generative AI, including scientific publications at top ML conferences (NeurIPS, ICLR, ICML, …) \n
- Strong analytical skills \n
- Good command of coding in python, and strong grasp of programming best practices \n
- Passionate about the intersections of healthcare/biology and AI \n
- PhD in Computer Science-related field (machine learning, applied mathematics, computer science, software engineering) or equivalent experience \n
- Knowledge and experience with data science tools: you have already achieved projects with real-world data and are familiar with scikit learn, xgboost, neural networks, cross validation and statistical tests \n
- Experience with deep learning frameworks (Tensorflow, PyTorch, Jax, etc.) : you should have already worked with one of these frameworks for one of your projects \n
- Excellent written and oral communication skills \n
- Highly organized and meticulous about details; capable of tackling complex problems logically and effectively; fun to work with; honest; excited to work hard in a dynamic, fast-paced environment; \n
Ways to stand out:

- 1+ years of post-doctoral experience, or equivalent experience \n
- Industry experience \n
- Expertise in one of the following subjects, or related ones: generative AI models in biology, large language models, representation learning \n

- Experience managing multi-stakeholder research projects \n
