\nAbout the role:
\nWe are seeking an experienced scientist with leadership experience and a proven track record in organoids/microphysiological systems research, who can contribute to our mission to discover new drug targets by developing predictive human model systems.
\nThe Lab Director will play a key role in setting up the first Owkin lab facilities and ensuring that our target discovery programs run smoothly, by operating a well-functioning environment. She/he will assist the senior management in defining the best MPS strategy to implement in the Owkin Lab and will ensure continuous innovation and improvement of workflows.
\nThe best person for this role has a deep understanding of the inner workings of a lab and combines her/his experience in the biology field with excellent managerial and organizational skills. This role empowers the whole Owkin lab team to be more effective and will enable it to scale as the company grows.
\nIn particular, you will:
\n- \n
- Serve as an internal domain expert and thought specialist for human tumor 3D models \n
- Identify and implement the latest technological capabilities of the MPS field in Owkin lab \n
- Define, together with Operations and Discovery team members, workflow requirements for state-of-the-art phenotypic assessment of potential targets in human model systems \n
- Maintain the lab environment to make it an effective place to investigate novel targets \n
- Work with the biomedical leads to understand program/project requirements and implement work plans in the laboratory \n
- Ensure experimental and biobank traceability through LIMS/eLN. \n
- Assist scientists in wet work when needed, in areas such as model development and validation as well as in various functional and phenotypic assays. \n
- Coordinate and assist project leads to develop and update SOPs \n
- Serve as primary contact for lab vendors, including supplies, chemicals, equipment maintenance and service visits. \n
- Oversee and maintain regulatory authorizations and laboratory policies as well as Environmental Health and Safety requirements. \n
- Help lead, mentor, and build experimental teams. \n
Position is based in Paris 14.
\nAbout you
\nThe ideal Owkinaute will bring the following education and experience:

- A PhD in molecular or cell biology or related fields \n
- Demonstrated expertise in managing lab operations and/or human modeling research in an industrial setting \n
- Hands-on experience with mammalian cell culture, in particular handling primary tumor samples and 3D models \n
- Cell-based assays for phenotyping, functionality and high content imaging in cell lines and primary tissues \n
- Familiarity with LIMS/ELN systems in an industrial environment \n
- Knowledge of genome editing methods for gene perturbation \n
and demonstrate the following skills and competencies by:

- Being detailed-oriented, with exceptional organizational and record keeping skills \n
- Demonstrating successful implementation of a lab end-to-end and/or implementation of leading edge protocols or technologies \n
- Working well to deadlines and within a fast-paced environment \n
- Being a great team player, capable of driving and implementing a supportive and inclusive work environment \n
- Spotting small dysfunctionalities and proactively resolving them autonomously \n
- Showing resourcefulness when finding creative ways to overcome operational challenges \n
- Feeling comfortable communicating to both scientific and non-scientific audiences in English (French is a plus) \n
