About the role:

As a Data Steward intern, you will be working on ongoing projects where Owkin is developing and deploying its world-class AI pipeline to accelerate the discovery of new treatments and new drugs. As an example, this role has the opportunity to contribute to building multimodal healthcare datasets that enable privacy preserving scientific collaboration through machine learning. You will be working on internal R&D projects and pharma companies sponsored projects to advance biomedical research, discover and develop better treatments.

In particular, you will:

  • Assist the Data Operations team members in supporting operational tasks, including hands-on involvement with data when necessary. Responsibilities include providing input to feed project dashboards, monitoring data quality, facilitating data access for research purposes, and fostering partner collaboration
  • Help develop templates and processes describing the activities of the team & its coordination with other teams.
  • Help manage team progress by organizing meetings and agendas, preparing contents in collaboration with other teams and external partners, keeping minutes;
  • Support the development of RFPs (Requests for Proposal) to manage outsourcing activities
  • Contribute to the elaboration of the strategy of the team

As Owkin is scaling up, you will also help structuring Data Operations team processes by:

  • building tools and reports in a Python environment to support the Data Operations team, effectively execute projects, monitor progress, communicate project updates, and manage outsourcing.
  • identifying potential issues in project execution & monitoring, and propose scalable solutions

The intern will report to a Data Steward of the Data Operations as part of Owkin’s Partnerships team. They will also interact with a wide variety of profiles, including technical, legal, medical, data researchers, and business contacts both within and outside the organization. This role will allow the candidate to get a transversal perspective on Owkin’s research and technology development.

Depending on the intern's previous experience and the internship duration (6+ months required), the position could include direct project management of internal and transversal projects.

The position is located in Paris.

About you

Required qualifications / experience:

  • A diploma in the field of business or engineering, or the last year before graduation (for gap year internships);
  • General understanding of the health sector & some medical/biology knowledge;
  • Good knowledge of project management methodologies;
  • Learns quickly and is passionate about Biotech and AI;
  • Be diligent and possess the ability to complete tasks;
  • Prioritizes and can juggle multiple work streams;
  • Works efficiently within a complex environment and has a good team spirit;
  • Comfortable working within a Python environment;
  • Communicates effectively in written and oral English;
  • Is numeric and tech-savvy;
  • Is a creative thinker
