About the role:
As a legal counsel, covering maternity leave for a period of 6 months, you’ll be part of the Data access and Privacy legal team, responsible for reviewing all data access, IT, consultancy and confidentiality agreements. You will also participate actively in the transparency and anti-gift compliance, performing the necessary declarations and advising internal clients on the anti-gift limitations and transparency requirements.
In particular, you will:
- provide effective support to the legal team and in particular to the team dedicated to data access, data privacy, IT, transparency and anti-benefits.
- more specifically:
- draft, review and negotiate, under the supervision of the VP Legal - head of data access and data privacy, a broad range of agreements linked to our compliance activities with a primary focus on consultancy agreements, data access agreements and non-disclosure agreements
- liaise with internal teams (Procurement, Marketing, Finance, People team, Partnerships…) on contracts and specific issues (contract interpretation and/or explanation, definition and implementation of processes, etc.)
- support the legal team on compliance matters (Transparency, Anti-Gifts, personal data re-use)
- support the legal team in its cross borders compliance to applicable laws, by:
- reviewing memos from law firms,
- summarizing the memos in a table and find ways of improvement of the existing tools with a refreshing view on our cross border laws tools,
- participate in the analysis of new regulations applying to Owkin when opening new countries (pre analysing regulations, participation in the law firm selection…)
- regularly contribute to and refine Owkin’s templates, policies and processes, in particular regarding transparency and anti-benefits issues
- maintain and update templates and clauses library / Support legal intelligence initiatives .
The position is based in our beautiful Paris offices, 75009.
About you
- Required qualifications / experience:
- Native or fluent french;
- Fluent English (Oxford: C1 or equivalent);
- Autonomy, rigor, intellectual curiosity, team spirit, initiative;
- Excellent writing skills;
- Academic background in French law (university degree);
- Basic knowledge in Data privacy and transparency/anti-benefits;
- Two (2) years' experience minimum as a full time legal counsel or lawyer in an international company, ideally within the tech or healthcare sector.
- Preferred qualifications/bonus:
- Masters in Life Sciences and/or Regulatory affairs,
- Double degree / LLM, training in common law or comparative law appreciated.
