Description:
Akura is seeking a Sr. Manager/Director of Marketing to contribute to the global commercial strategy for our innovative catheter-based portfolio. Reporting to the Senior Director of Marketing, this is a hands-on, high-visibility leadership role responsible for both upstream and downstream marketing initiatives. The ideal candidate will be a "player-coach" with a proven track record of launching disruptive therapies, deep expertise in the interventional space, and an intimate understanding of the cath lab ecosystem. You will be responsible for shaping our brand, defining product roadmaps, and driving commercial execution to establish our technology as the standard of care in the Venous Thromboembolism (VTE) market.
Responsibilities, Skills & Hands-On Experience:
Upstream Marketing & Strategy:
  • Serve as the marketing lead on cross-functional product development teams, translating deep market and clinical insights into actionable product requirements.
  • Conduct comprehensive market analysis, including competitive landscape, market trends, and Voice of Customer (VOC) research to identify unmet needs and guide portfolio strategy.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with a global network of Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), including Interventional Cardiologists, Interventional Radiologists, and Vascular Surgeons, to inform product development and clinical strategy.
Downstream Marketing & Commercial Execution:
  • Lead the planning and execution of product launches in the US and key global markets, ensuring commercial readiness across all functions.
  • Develop compelling, clinically-driven messaging and positioning that resonates with target physician specialties.
  • Oversee the creation of a full suite of marketing and sales collateral, including brochures, case studies, presentations, and digital assets.
  • Partner with the Sales leadership team to develop and deliver impactful sales training programs and tools that accelerate therapy adoption.
  • Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of marketing campaigns and inform future strategies.
Education & Work Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Engineering, or a related field; MBA preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive marketing experience in the medical device industry, including at least 2 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven success across upstream (product development) and downstream (commercialization) marketing, with experience launching disruptive, catheter-based interventional devices globally (emphasis on U.S. market).
  • Deep understanding of the cath lab/interventional suite environment, procedural workflow, and marketing complex systems combining disposables and capital equipment.
  • Strong KOL relationships within relevant clinical specialties and experience in fast-paced, high-growth startup environments.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to distill complex clinical and technical data for diverse audiences.
Our salary ranges are calculated by role, level, and location.
