About Us

FIS® Private Capital Suite (formerly Investran) automates reporting and accounting processes for the private equity industry. We are seeking a specialized database administrator (DBA) for our site reliability engineering (SRE) team, with a strong focus on SQL Server monitoring, tuning, and operational excellence. This role bridges database administration, observability engineering, and reliability practices. You will own the performance, availability, and scalability of our SQL Server environments, ensuring they meet demanding service-level objectives (SLOs).

What you will be doing

Design, build, and maintain SQL Server observability systems (monitoring, alerting, logging, and tracing)
Implement proactive performance tuning and reliability improvements
Automate routine database operational tasks to reduce toil
Collaborate with development teams to improve query performance and schema design
Conduct root cause analyses on database-related incidents and drive lasting improvements
Maintain and optimize SQL Server infrastructure across on-prem and/or cloud environments
Participate in on-call rotation for critical database systems
Document and share best practices for SQL Server reliability and operations

What you bring

3+ years of experience in Database Administration, Database Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering, or related field
Deep expertise in Microsoft SQL Server administration, tuning, and optimization
Strong understanding of query plans, indexing strategies, and locking mechanisms
Proficient with monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, SQL Sentry, or Redgate SQL Monitor
Skilled in performance analysis at both the database and operating system levels
Nice to have experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible, or similar)

Experience with SQL MI
Scripting skills (PowerShell, Python, Bash)
Solid understanding of high availability, replication, and disaster recovery strategies for SQL Server
Cloud database experience (AWS RDS/Azure SQL/Google Cloud SQL)
Familiarity with containerized database deployment (Kubernetes, Docker)
Exposure to NoSQL systems (MongoDB, Redis)
Chaos engineering or fault-injection testing on database systems
