What you will be doing:
As lead platform architect you will play a critical role as we grow our global, market leading, financial platform. Partnering with our lead product architect you will lead our ongoing cloud modernisation work as we expand our platform to meet consistent annual double digit customer growth. Your focus will be on the design, deployment and management of our cloud infrastructure, supporting a mix of web based applications, batch processing, third party service integration and AI/ML infrastructure.
In this role you will:
- Define and communicate the platform architectural roadmap of our cloud SaaS platform.
- Empower the platform and development teams to succeed within that roadmap.
- Partner with the lead product architect to ensure product and platform architectures are closely aligned.
- Design the architectural frameworks that support the work of our SRE team. Including:
- Monitoring solutions for infrastructure, application performance, and user experience.
- Automation tools to streamline tasks, scale infrastructure, and ensure seamless deployments.
- Ensuring application reliability, availability, and performance, minimizing downtime and optimizing response times.
- Lead capacity planning, performance tuning, and resource optimization.
- Incorporate FIS standards, policy and tooling into our solutions.
- Collaborate with security teams to implement best practices and ensure compliance.
- Lead incident response, including identification, triage, resolution, and post-incident analysis.
- Participate in on-call rotations and provide 24/7 support for critical incidents.
What you bring:
- 12 years professional experience in software development and architecture
- Operational experience within a SaaS environment.
- Clear understanding of the impact of product and platform design on the success of a SaaS business.
- Proficiency in development technologies, architectures, and platforms, with an ability to see the bigger picture.
- Experience with cloud platforms, specifically an in-depth knowledge of Microsoft Azure.
- Strong troubleshooting skills, and an ability to get hands on, for complex technical issues.
- An ownership approach to engineering and product outcomes.
- Experience in leading incident management and post-mortem reviews.
- Demonstrated skills in empowering others, providing vision and leading by example.
- Excellent interpersonal communication, negotiation, and influencing skills.
- Experience operating effectively within the policies and practices of a large organisation.
