Senior Quality Engineer (Performance Testing, JMeter, Automation) – Capital Market Domain (AI Testing Additional Advantage)

Are you curious, motivated, and forward-thinking? At FIS you’ll have the opportunity to work on some of the most challenging and relevant issues in financial services and technology. Our talented people empower us, and we believe in being part of a team that is open, collaborative, entrepreneurial, passionate and above all fun.

About the team

The Private Equity development team is a core product‑engineering team within the Capital Markets division at FIS. The team owns the end‑to‑end design, development, quality, reliability, and delivery of an industry‑leading private equity accounting platform used by global financial institutions.

Capital Markets is one of the two primary verticals at FIS, delivering innovative solutions across funds management, cleared derivatives, commercial lending, corporate treasury, insurance risk, electronic trading, RegTech, and wealth and retirement services. Within this ecosystem, the Private Equity Accounting product plays a critical role in supporting complex fund structures, accounting workflows, and regulatory requirements for alternative investment firms.

The team is a cross‑functional product organization comprising solution architects, backend and frontend developers, quality engineers, and site reliability engineers (SREs). Together, they work closely to build scalable, secure, high‑performance solutions with a strong focus on product quality, automation, operational excellence, and customer outcomes.

What you will be doing

As a Senior Performance Test Engineer, you will be responsible for defining and executing comprehensive performance and non‑functional testing strategies for an industry‑leading private equity fund accounting and investor management platform. You will design, build, and maintain scalable JMeter‑based performance test solutions, enabling early identification of bottlenecks, high‑confidence releases, and resilient, enterprise‑grade systems. The role focuses on performance engineering best practices, data‑driven analysis, and close collaboration with architects, developers, and SREs to ensure the platform meets demanding scalability, reliability, and throughput requirements.

What you bring:

Knowledge / Experience

  • Lead performance testing requirement analysis, performance strategy definition, and non‑functional test planning across load, stress, spike, endurance, and scalability testing.
  • Design, develop, execute, and maintain performance test suites using JMeter, covering web, API, and backend services.
  • Create and maintain reusable, modular JMeter test components, including thread groups, test data handling, listeners, and reporting mechanisms.
  • Analyze performance metrics such as response time, throughput, latency, error rates, CPU/memory utilization, and identify system bottlenecks.
  • Work closely with architects and developers to define performance benchmarks, SLAs, and acceptance criteria.
  • Integrate performance test execution into CI/CD pipelines where applicable to enable early detection of performance regressions.
  • Use structured LLM prompts to assist in generating performance test scripts, test scenarios, workload models, and edge‑case simulations (added advantage).
  • Conduct baseline, comparative, and trend analysis to assess performance improvements or degradations across releases.
  • Build strong understanding of application architecture and end‑to‑end client workflows in the BFSI domain, including transaction-heavy systems.
  • Collaborate with Business Analysts, Solution Architects, Developers, SREs, and Infrastructure teams to identify performance risks early and recommend optimizations.
  • Design and prepare performance test data, including correlation, parameterization, and data volume strategies.
  • Drive all phases of performance test execution, analysis, reporting, and sign‑off, providing clear recommendations and actionable insights.
  • Support limited functional or automation testing activities where needed, leveraging exposure to automation frameworks.
  • Actively participate in Agile ceremonies, contributing to sprint, release, and readiness goals.
  • Implement and continuously improve performance engineering practices, documentation, dashboards, and best practices.
  • Mentor junior team members on JMeter, performance analysis techniques, and non‑functional testing fundamentals.
  • Ensure performance quality gates are met before production releases and that regressions are proactively prevented.

Skills

  • 8–12+ years of hands‑on experience in performance testing / non‑functional testing, with strong understanding of QA and performance engineering principles.
  • Strong proficiency in Apache JMeter, including test design, scripting, execution, and analysis.
  • Experience testing high‑throughput, high‑volume enterprise systems, preferably in BFSI / Capital Markets.
  • Exposure to test automation frameworks (UI or API automation) is desirable.
  • Experience integrating performance testing with CI/CD pipelines.
  • Familiarity with generating and optimizing test scripts using LLMs via structured prompts (added advantage).
  • Strong understanding of system architectures, APIs, microservices, and backend integrations.
  • Proficiency in SQL / PL‑SQL for backend data validation and performance verification.
  • Working knowledge of UNIX/Linux commands, log analysis, and scripting.
  • Experience with test management tools, defect tracking systems, and version control tools such as Bitbucket.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex performance data and articulate findings clearly.
  • Ability to meet aggressive deadlines and deliver performance insights in fast‑paced environments.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including executive‑ready performance reports

Added Bonus If You Have (Desirable Skills)

  • Hands-on experience working in Agile / Scrum teams.
  • Exposure to Performance Testing and other Non-Functional Testing disciplines.
  • Experience validating AI/ML-based workflows or models from a quality perspective.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field or the equivalent combination of education, training, or work experience

Competencies
