Are you curious, motivated, and forward-thinking? At FIS you’ll have the opportunity to work on some of the most challenging and relevant issues in financial services and technology. Our talented people empower us, and we believe in being part of a team that is open, collaborative, entrepreneurial, passionate and above all fun.
NOTE:
1: This position is hybrid (3 days onsite) in our FIS Office locations in Milwaukee (WI), Jacksonville (FL) & Atlanta (GA).

About the Role & Team:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Software Engineer to join our Money Movement Hub team. In this role, you will serve as the Senior developer responsible for the support and reliability of a mission-critical payment processing platform hosted on AWS. You will work across the full stack — front end and back end — while driving engineering best practices, CI/CD maturity, and DevOps culture within an agile team environment. This is a hands-on position requiring both deep technical ability and collaborative team guidance.
What you will be doing:
Application Development & Ownership
Hands-on full-stack development of the Money Movement Hub application, covering both front-end interfaces and back-end services.
Architect and implement scalable, highly available solutions on AWS (ECS, Lambda, RDS, SQS, API Gateway, and related services).
Design and develop RESTful APIs and microservices in Java and Python.
Own code quality standards — conduct code reviews, enforce best practices, and mentor junior engineers.
CI/CD & DevOps
Build, maintain, and continuously improve CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions, AWS CodePipeline, Harness, or equivalent).
Collaborate with DevOps and cloud infrastructure teams on deployment strategies, environment management, and release automation.
Drive shift-left testing initiatives including automated unit, integration, and regression testing.
Production Operations & On-Call
Participate in an on-call production support rotation for the Money Movement Hub platform.
Lead incident response efforts: triage, root cause analysis, and post-incident review.
Monitor application health using observability tooling (e.g., Dynatrace, Splunk, CloudWatch) and proactively address performance issues.
Ensure high availability and resilience of payment processing flows including RTP and FedNow transactions.
Technical Leadership & Collaboration
Serve as a technical point of contact for cross-functional stakeholders including DevOps, QA, product, and security teams.
Contribute to sprint planning, backlog grooming, and agile ceremonies as a senior technical voice.
Document architecture decisions, runbooks, and operational procedures in Wiki.
Identify and advocate for technical improvements, debt reduction, and process maturity initiatives.
What you bring:
5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
3+ years of hands-on experience with Java (Spring Boot preferred) and Python in production environments.
Demonstrated experience building and operating applications on AWS — familiarity with core services such as EC2, ECS/EKS, Lambda, RDS, S3, SQS, API Gateway, and IAM.
Proven experience designing, implementing, and maintaining CI/CD pipelines in an enterprise or regulated environment.
Strong understanding of DevOps principles: automated testing, infrastructure-as-code, monitoring, and release management.
Experience with both front-end (JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks) and back-end development.
Ability and willingness to participate in an on-call production support rotation.
Solid understanding of RESTful API design and microservices architecture.
Experience working in Agile/Scrum teams with tools such as Jira.
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience.
Added bonus if you have:
Experience with payment platforms, real-time payments (RTP), FedNow, or ISO 20022 messaging standards.
Familiarity with hybrid cloud/on-premises environments.
Experience with observability tools such as Dynatrace, Splunk, or CloudWatch.
AWS Certified Developer or AWS Certified Solutions Architect certification.
Working knowledge of change management practices and ITSM tools (e.g., ServiceNow).
Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes/EKS).
Prior experience in financial services, banking, or fintech environments.
What we offer you:
At FIS, we hire the best. In return, you receive exceptional benefits including:
Opportunities to innovate in fintech
Tools for personal and professional growth
Inclusive and diverse work environment
Resources to invest in your community
