We’re Scan.com, the health tech startup giving patients and clinicians simpler, faster access to MRI, CT and ultrasound scans. At the heart of Scan.com lies a different way of doing things: removing waiting lists, empowering patients, and easing clinician workloads. It’s our mission to make medical scans accessible to all, and we’ve already helped over 10,000 patients in the UK alone.

We’re pioneering a new approach to diagnostic imaging and are looking for someone resourceful, proactive and naturally entrepreneurial to drive our B2B growth. You’ll be joining us at an exciting time - we’ve recently launched our B2B product, expanded our brand to the USA and German markets, raised £15m in VC funding, and quadrupled our global team.

What You Will Be Getting Involved In

As an early Business Development team member, you will have an influence on the future development of the Business Development function.

This role is field-based in the UK. You must be willing to travel and have a care and clean driving licence.

As an early-stage business, you can expect your role to develop over time. However, some of the types of things you could be getting involved in are:

  • Manage 2x SDRs to support growth in target channel currently Referring providers and medico-legal
  • Meeting sales targets for sign-ups and volume of referrals to scan.com
  • Maintaining relationships with key accounts across multiple sales channels and sharing feedback/insight back into the wider Scan.com team
  • Calling on Referring provider practices to have them refer patients through Scan.com to our partner radiology and imaging centres
  • Building cross-functional relationships with team members across the US
  • Playing a key role in shaping the future success of Scan.com in the UK

We don't believe anyone is the finished article; therefore, you might not tick all the boxes. However, these might be some of the ways you are currently adding value that apply to this role:

  • Proven experience in a closing sales role, ideally field sales
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Confident cold caller. This role requires dropping into potential clients unannounced. You should feel confident in that element of the role
  • Previous experience in medical sales, pharmacology, or medico-legal is advantageous but not essential
  • Previous experience or a desire to work within an early-stage business where priorities change, and things move fast!
  • A motivated self-starter who can work autonomously is a must

We try to keep our interview process short, and as a small business, we can move through the stages quickly. Due to availability, there may be a change to the order of the interview process, but generally speaking, this is what you can expect:

  • Introductory call/interview with Clare, our Global VP of People. The call is usually via telephone and will last around 30 minutes
  • Should it feel like there is an initial fit for all, we will invite you to a video call with the hiring manager for around 45 minutes. This is a more structured interview and will deep dive into the role and technical needs
  • Some, if not all, of our roles, will have a small assessment stage. This might be in person, a take-home assessment or further video calls. Length varies; however, we are mindful that you will have your own work to do and, therefore, try to keep it as simple as possible
  • Meet the founders and/or other team members. Again, length varies depending on how many people and whether in person or via video call
  • Offer!

We divide this into the basics you should expect and the added benefits.

The basics:

  • Base salary of £55-70k depending on experience, plus commission scheme
  • 28 days annual leave
  • Statutory Pension
  • Everything you need to effectively do your role - equipment
  • Flexible working
  • Hybrid working
  • Personal Development budgets

The benefits

  • Wellness budget to spend via a partner platform
  • Equity

Following a review with our existing team, we are currently redrafting our benefits package to cover the things you actually need/want. Co-creation is at the heart of many of our People processes, and we can’t wait to unveil our new and improved benefits.
